TAB Tees Up FCC/Texas Political Ad Rules Webinar Jan 16

- Media Mgmt/Sales Summit Slated Jan. 24-25

With election year fever spiking and the Texas March 5 primary election on the horizon, TAB has slated a members-only virtual briefing on the FCC’s political advertising rules for Jan. 16 which will also cover state regulations imposed by the Texas Legislature.

TAB’s FCC legal counsel, Scott Flick and Lauren Lynch Flick with Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman, are presenting the 90-minute webinar and fielding questions from participants who also are encouraged to download TAB’s Political Advertising legal guide and the 2024 political window schedule from TAB.org.

Registration for the live presentation has reached maximum capacity. TAB will alert members as soon as the recording is available.

More On Tap in January

TAB bolted out of the gate in the New Year with a two-day learning event by Local Broadcast Sales (LBS) that ends tomorrow, and more training and key program deadlines on tap, including:

  • Texas Broadcast News Awards – Submission window opened Jan. 1 and closes Jan. 30. DETAILS
  • TAB Annual Public Service Research Survey – Deadline extended to Jan. 12.  DETAILS
  • TAB Rising Above: Media Sales & Management Summit – Free to members! Jan. 24-25.  DETAILS

Stations can keep up with political windows, EAS test schedules, FCC reporting deadlines, major industry events and more with TAB’s downloadable 2024 Broadcast Calendar.

TAB Board Expands Training Programs

The TAB Board of Directors in December approved a 33 percent budget increase for TAB’s training services that, in part, allows TAB to increase by half the number of trainees for the extremely popular and very costly “Sales Rookie to Ready in 7 Weeks” program for first-time sellers. The in-demand classes are formulated quarterly.

TAB’s training partners, Derron Steenbergen with The Swagger Institute and Speed Marriott with P1 Learning, operate that program as well as “Ten-Minute Trainer”, the 24/7 online program with downloadable training modules and content from a broad range of experts ranging from Borrell Associates to Creative Ready.

Monthly “First Tuesday” LBS webinars routinely attract legions of sellers for expert insights into various advertising categories, strategies and challenges.

Additional programs planned include the return of TAB’s newsroom workshop to a college campus and a Capitol Reporter Bootcamp presentation, both in the fall.

All these programs are offered to members free of charge, except for the newsroom workshop which incurs a nominal fee to cover hard costs for outside facilities.
