TAB hosts career expo at Texas State University

More than 200 students seeking positions as account executives, anchors and producers met last week with stations from across the state at TAB’s career expo at Texas State University in San Marcos.

TSU’s School of Journalism and Mass Communication hosted the expo.

In all, nine radio and seven television station groups from Austin, Bryan-College Station, Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston, the Rio Grande Valley, San Antonio and Tyler participated and interviewed the soon-to-be-college graduates.

Broadcasters earn one quarter point toward FCC EEO requirements by sending someone with hiring capability to a career expo.  Stations in markets with population greater than 250,000 require four points every two years, while stations in smaller markets require two points during the same time period.

Stations and job seekers alike are encouraged to use the TAB Job Bank which is viewed more than 6,000 times weekly.  Members can post job openings for free and have their position highlighted as a “Featured Job” for $25.

There are more than 350 jobs currently listed in the job bank, as well as 150 resumes of job seekers.
