Register Now for Southwest Broadcast Newsroom Workshop and Save; Rates Increase Next Week!

TAB’s annual Southwest Broadcast Newsroom Workshop, the largest and longest-running regional broadcast newsroom workshop in the U.S., takes place in less than three weeks on Saturday, Nov. 16 at Live! At Loews in Arlington. That’s the same hotel and date as that night’s Lone Star EMMY® Awards gala.

Early-bird registration is just $25 and includes lunch. The registration fee increases to $45 after Nov. 4, so station staff should sign up now to save!

Nationally-known newsroom trainers and several of Texas’ best broadcast journalists will present nearly 20 information-packed sessions at the day-long workshop on the following topics:

  • Reporting and Newswriting - Boyd Huppert, KARE-TV Minneapolis-St. Paul, a winner of nearly 20 national Edward R. Murrow Awards and Deborah Potter, co-author of Advancing the Story: Broadcast Journalism in a Multimedia World
  • Videojournalism - Chad Nelson, KARE-TV Minneapolis-St. Paul, and Brandon Mowry, WFAA-TV, the NPPA’s 2018 and 2019 Photographers of the Year
  • Computer-Assisted Reporting - Sandra Gonzalez, computer-assisted reporting trainer for the Society of Professional Journalists and specialist in Google newsroom tools
  • Social Media - Chip Mahaney, Emerging Talent Leader for E. W. Scripps Co., on smart strategies for Social Media as well as two other sessions
  • Media Law - Texas newsroom law experts Marc Fuller, Vinson Elkins; Paul Watler, Jackson Walker; Tom Williams, Haynes Boone

Other workshop sessions will feature some of Texas’ best broadcast journalists and newsroom managers.
