2022 TAB Show Agenda Leads with Marketing, Technology Focus

-Aug. 3-4 Event in Austin Largest Regional, State Industry Event

After months of planning by more than two dozen Radio and TV broadcasters, TAB is unveiling the content offerings teed up for the 2022 TAB Show Aug. 3-4 in Downtown Austin. The Show is featuring 115 exhibits of leading industry vendors, as well as marketing and technology experts from across the country.

Sessions focusing on growing revenue and leveraging technology dominate the agenda, with additional programs slated to hone leadership skills and provide critical updates on music licensing and regulatory matters. Counter-programming has been minimized to ensure delegates don’t miss out on relevant content while leaving ample time to visit the exhibit hall.

Revenue & Leadership Insights

FCC Mass Media Bureau Chief Holly Saurer, Graham Media Stations CEO Catherine Badalamente, cybersecurity expert and NetRise CEO Thomas Pace, and local auto dealer marketing expert John Fitzpatrick, CEO of Force Marketing, are among the headliners.

Xperi CEO Joe D’Angelo and Quu CEO Steve Newberry join forces to share Radio’s revenue and audience growth opportunities with the modern car dashboard, while DFW Radio legend Ken Dowe keynotes the Golden Mic Club on opening night.

Additional headliners include broadcast sales and management guru Tom Ray of JDA, behavioral and brain science expert Graeme Newell, leadership development authority Jody Holland, and Swagger Institute CEO Derron Steenbergen preaching digital sales gospel and re-energizing marketing teams.

Rich Tech Talk

Radio and TV technology teams have more than a dozen sessions to hone their skills maintaining RF plants while also mastering new developments on the IP front that are layering additional efficiencies for the modern broadcast/IP enterprise.

Cybersecurity expert and NetRise CEO Thomas Pace dives deep into the cybersecurity threats and best practices broadcasters need to understand, while Nautel’s Jeff Welton provides lifesaving insights into proper grounding and lighting protections for station facilities.

Radio-focused sessions explore strategies for converting RF links to data streams, optimizing AM Radio facilities, building a cloud-based Radio station, and how Radio can utilize the new NextGen TV platform.

For TV tech teams, it’s pretty much all NextGen TV all the time as station group CTOS for Gray, Nexstar and Sinclair and Pearl CEO Anne Schelle open the discussion with a review of key marketplace advancements to date and the next steps in the ongoing rollout.

Multicast networking for NextGen TV gets a full breakdown by Heartland Video's Mike Schmidt, as does SL-HDR1 Implementation, while Fred Baumgartner shares developments in advanced emergency alerting and information services.

Also on tap is a further exploration of the evolution of broadcast technology in Texas history by David Ostmo whose presentation at the 2021 TAB Show won rave reviews.

Awards, Elections & Networking

Delegates will have multiple opportunities to reconnect with colleagues across the state at the opening night Kick-Off Party and closing night Chairman’s Reception.

Awards will be presented for public service and individual accomplishments at the Leadership Breakfast and Awards Gala, while the results of the annual Board of Directors elections will be announced at the Annual Business Meeting.
