West Texas broadcasters partner to give
posted on 9.20.2017In response to the devastating effects of Hurricane Harvey, Raycom Media outlets NewsWest9- KWES, Telemundo 20 - KTLE and La Ley- 104.7FM - KTXC teamed with H-E-B and the West Texas Food Bank to help relief efforts for those affected by the storm with "The Basin Cares" initiative.
The stations were at H-E-B locations every day from August 29-September 1, 2017, doing hourly live shots with our news team to bring people out to donate items for victims.
They asked that community members bring everything from canned goods to diapers and even mosquito spray.
The West Texas Food Bank Trailer collected items and delivered them to Southeast Texas Foodbank for distribution to those affected by Hurricane Harvey. H-E-B also took monetary donations to benefit the American Red Cross, Salvation Army and Feeding Texas.
The drive raised more than 42 pallets worth of food, water, personal hygiene items and more than $35,000.
La Ley helps Children's Miracle Network
On August 23-24, 2017, Raycom Media radio station, La Ley - 104.7 FM – KTXC, partnered with Children’s Miracle Network for the “La Ley Cares for Kids Radiothon.”
Donations from the Radiothon would be pledged to provide a Medical Center Hospital in Odessa with equipment, services, research and more for their Neonatal Intensive Care and Pediatric Unit.
Listeners tuned in to hear their favorite La Ley Radio hosts and the stories of children who are dealing with illness.
This year was the station’s 16th Radiothon and raised more than $87,000.
