TBEF awards nine scholarships worth $16,000
posted on 5.12.2014The Scholarship Committee for the Texas Broadcast Education Foundation recently chose nine broadcast students in Texas to receive a scholarship to continue their education.
TBEF received applications from students at sixteen colleges and universities across the state.
The following scholarships were awarded:
- $2,000, the Belo Scholarship, to Corey Schneider, a senior at the University of Texas at Austin
- $2,000, the Bonner McLane Scholarship, to Zachary Lozano, a Junior at the University of Texas at Austin
- $2,000, the Tom Reiff Scholarship, to Malcolm Hornsby, a senior at Texas A&M Commerce
- $2,000, the Lady Bird Johnson Scholarship, to Dylan Nikoletopoulos, a senior at the University of Texas at Austin
- $2,000, the Vann Kennedy Scholarship, to Megan Peterson, a Junior at Tarleton State University
- $1,000, half of the Wendell Mayes, Jr. Scholarship, to Daniela Parraga, a senior at Texas Tech university, graduating in December
- $1,000, half of the Wendell Mayes, Jr. Scholarship, to Phyllis Vengeancee, a senior at Stephen F. Austin State University, graduating in December
- $2,000 to Jonathan Raitz, a freshman at Abilene Christian University
- $2,000 to James Atkins, a sophomore at Austin Community College
Applications for the $5,000 Ann Arnold Scholarship are under consideration.
