TAB Sets Course for 2021 with Expanded Member Services

- Legislative Focus, Annual TAB Show Returns

TAB’s Board of Directors met last week in part to set the association’s course for 2021 which will open with an expansion of direct services to members and renewed advocacy before state policymakers. New training programs for managers, sales teams and first-time sellers launching next month will be bookended with the return of the Annual TAB Convention and Trade Show Aug. 3-4 in Austin.

Legislative Agenda
In the legislative session convening Jan. 12, TAB is advancing several needed improvements to the state’s Open Government laws to ensure Texans are able to hold their local and state government officials accountable. The measures address verification of dates of birth in public records, timely responses to public information requests, public access to virtual meetings, searchable public data sets and other concerns.

Advertising disclosures, tax policy, and regulatory measures involving the automobile and restaurant industries also top TAB’s agenda of legislative interests for the session.

TAB’s biennial legislative conference exploring these and other issues important to broadcasters will be held virtually in early February.

New Training Services
Three new training programs to help stations start the New Year on the right foot include:

P1+ Onboarding for First Time Sellers – This program focuses on AEs with less than two years’ experience go from rookie to ready in less than seven weeks. Enrollment is limited for quarterly classes starting in January, March, July and September.  Learn more

Rising Above Sales & Management Media Summit Jan. 27-28 – Derron Steenburgen and Speed Marriott lead this day and a half virtual training summit featuring six other industry trainers to teach, coach, inspire and motivate teams to rise above the challenges of today’s sales environment. Learn more

TAB’s Technical Academy, a COVID casualty, will launch this fall when Texas broadcast engineering legend Gil Garcia introduces the Certified Radio Operator/Chief Operator certification program at TAB’s Ann Arnold Center in downtown Austin.

2021 TAB Show Planning Underway
Planning already is underway for the 2021 TAB Show Aug. 3-4 at the JW Marriott in downtown Austin. The event will continue its much-lauded agenda focused on sales, marketing, technology and management, including a trade show featuring 100 of the industry’s leading vendors.
