TAB Management Development Seminar

Maximizing Performance through Effective Leadership

Location: Dallas, Sheraton Market Center, Oaks Ballroom

Presenter: Nancy Vaeth-DuBroff

The ability to lead can improve with self-awareness, education, training and mentoring and in-field practice.

This workshop gives attendees concrete ideas and practices that can assist them in becoming more effective leaders.

The workshop is designed to be interactive and will include exercises for each table to participate in.

AGENDA

  1. Leadership vs. Management
Discuss the similarities and differences between leaders and managers.  The path to growth begins with the realization that in order to improve, we need to examine our own strengths and weaknesses. This section helps attendees identify areas for professional development.
  2. Creating a Culture
How to build, maintain and nurture a culture that gives people the opportunity, resources, incentives and desire to do their best work.
  3. Do's and Don'ts of Building a Team
Everyone understands that in order to produce the best results possible on a consistent basis, you need the best team possible. Discuss ways to attract, retain, develop and motivate a strong, committed team. Focus is on the importance of growth plans for all team members.
  4. Art and Science of Effective Internal Communications
Explore the pitfalls associated with poor communications, the benefits of strong communications and how to build an organization of outstanding communicators.
  5. The "Big Idea" vs. How to Make it Happen
Great ideas that are poorly executed or not executed at all are lost opportunities. Look at ways to strike a balance between creative thought and process. Look at how to hold staff accountable without micromanaging.
  6. The Importance of Truth
Whether it's getting to the truth about why ratings slipped, why you lost a key account or why a valued staff member quit; it's  important to understand what is really going on inside your organization. The only way to reduce vulnerabilities is to face them head on.  This section deals with getting to the truth.
