Nexstar Releases Sept. 28 Abbott/Valdez Gubernatorial Debate Details

Incumbent Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, R-Austin, will debate former Dallas Co. Sheriff Lupe Valdez on Friday, Sept. 28 in Austin.

The hour-long Texas Gubernatorial Debate will take place at 7 PM at the LBJ Presidential Library on the University of Texas campus.

The debate will be broadcast live statewide on Nexstar-owned television stations and several partner television outlets throughout Texas.  Longtime KXAN News Anchor Robert Hadlock will moderate the debate.

A panel of Texas broadcast journalists will ask questions: Julie Fine, KXAS-TV Dallas-Fort Worth; Norma Garcia, KXTX-TV Dallas-Fort Worth; Andy Cerota, KPRC-TV Houston and Steve Spriester, KSAT-TV San Antonio.

There are no restrictions on using video and audio of the gubernatorial debate, but there will be no special feed of this material as it is being aired in every television market statewide.  All media will have to record it off-air for use in later newscasts.
