REMINDER: Sept. 22 Subscription Deadline for SOS Constitutional Amendment Election Results

Broadcast newsrooms seeking the Secretary of State’s XML Newsfeed of unofficial returns for the upcoming constitutional amendment election have a Friday, Sept. 22 deadline to make reservations for the service.

Stations with questions regarding the election night services should contact the SOS’ Julia Montes at (800)252-8683 or at JMontes@sos.texas.gov.

Media subscribers will obtain access to an online-based inquiry system with immediate update features. 

Vote totals are updated continuously throughout election night as soon as returns are received. The inquiry system will display election results for statewide, district, county, and early voting totals.

In addition to election night return information for the 14 proposed constitutional amendments, results for the HD 2 special election will also be available.

The winner of the HD 2 special election will fill the unexpired term of St. Rep. Bryan Slaton, R-Royse City, who was expelled from the Texas House of Representatives in May after the details of his sexual misconduct with an aide were revealed.

Six candidates are vying for the job, five Republicans and one Democrat.

If a newsroom decides not to subscribe for the XML Newsfeed, staff will still be able to view the unofficial results on the SOS website at www.sos.texas.gov, although such results typically lag behind the feed by approximately five minutes or more.
