Pioneer Round-Up: May 2013

Mayes receives doctorate

Wendell Mayes, Jr. recently received a Doctor of Philosophy in Finance from Walden University.

Mayes is a former TAB Chairman of the Board and currently serves as a director of the Texas Broadcast Education Foundation.  He was honored as the TAB Pioneer Broadcaster in 1978, inducted into the Texas Radio Hall of Fame in 2002 and served as Chairman of the Board of Regents at Texas Tech University.

His station affiliations include KBWD Brownwood, KNOW/KCSW Austin, KXOL/KCWM Fort Worth, KSNY Snyder, KCRS/KWMJ Midland-Odessa, KVIC/KAMG Victoria and KLBJ/KAJZ Austin.

Jarrott performing in “Harvey”

David Jarrott will be appearing in the upcoming Zach Theatre production of “Harvey.”  The play runs from May 15-June 16 in the new Topfer Theatre in Austin.    He also has completed his first novel, Blood Moon, and hopes for publication this summer.

Jarrott was inducted into the Texas Radio Hall of Fame in 2011 and the Texas Radio Hall of Fame Hall of Honor in 2002.  His previous station affiliations include KCNY San Marcos, KNOW, KHFI, KTBC-TV, KXOL, KNOW, KEYI, and KKMJ Austin.
