Patti C. Smith to Join KUT/KUTX Austin

Pioneer Texas Broadcaster Patti C. Smith is joining KUT/KUTX Austin.

She will serve as interim executive director while the Moody College conducts a national search for a permanent director for the stations.

She starts May 14 and will spend a month working alongside Stewart Vanderwilt to ensure a smooth transition. Vanderwilt will be leaving the stations in mid-June to become CEO of Colorado Public Radio.

Smith's career spans more than 40 years in the television industry and she served as TAB Chairman in 2006.

She retired from KVUE-TV Austin in May 2016 - after 17 years at the station.

TAB named her Broadcaster of the Year in 2004.
