Nominations open for 13 TAB Board seats

The elections process for TAB's Board of Directors is underway.

TAB staff mailed nomination packets to all members on June 6. Nominations are being solicited for 13 open seats which include

  • five radio seats,
  • three television seats,
  • three Associate Member seats and
  • the one seat each for for non-commercial and retired members.

Directors whose terms extend beyond 2007 and current officers are not eligible for nomination.

Jerry Bobo?Serving on the TAB Board is a great experience,? said TAB Chairman Jerry Bobo of First Broadcasting in Dallas.

?Directors have a unique opportunity to help TAB foster a more favorable regulatory climate for Texas broadcasters and enhance services for members.

?Each TAB Board member is crucial to TAB's effectiveness in advocating on behalf of the industry in Austin and Washington,? Bobo said.

The Board of Directors meets at least six times a year. Directors set policy for TAB's state and federal legislative initiatives, as well as programs, services, communications, membership dues and all other facets of the organization.

Nominations are due July 10, and any member who does not wish to be nominated is asked to notify the TAB office in writing by that date.

Members interested in running may nominate themselves and are encouraged to campaign for the position.

All members will receive by July 25 a list of the two individuals receiving the most nominations for each seat. The top nominees will be included on the written ballot submitted to delegates at the Annual Business Meeting during the TAB Convention, Aug. 8-10 in Austin.

Additional nominations may be made from the floor. Customarily, members only vote for a candidate who is present at the Business Meeting. Members must attend the Annual Business Meeting in order to vote.
