New Tech, Revenue, Audience Content Anchor TAB Show Agenda

When Texas broadcasters and industry leaders from throughout the country convene in Austin Aug. 2-3 for the TAB Show, they’ll encounter an array of content offerings designed to help them power through the coming year with cutting edge technology, strategies to grow revenue and serve audiences, and actionable insights on leading teams to success.
About 1,200 delegates are anticipated, making the TAB Show the largest state or regional broadcast industry event in the country with 109 vendors showcasing the latest in gear and services across the 115-booth exhibit hall, the heart of all the action at the JW Marriott in Downtown Austin.
The agenda features 27 unique content offerings for Radio and TV engineers, sales teams, and managers over the day and a half conference punctuated with celebrations of exemplary individual and community leadership.

Audience Focus
Texas-based AR&D’s Jerry Gumbert and Earle Jones command the longest segment on the agenda with their Understanding Our Audience session. The program focuses on lessons learned from a Summer 2023 statewide research study of Texas consumers’ media behaviors and attitudes. Subsequent presentations by Nielsen experts will dive into the landscape of opportunities for TV and for Radio.
Radio in the Dashboard
Preserving Radio’s dominance in the car is the focus of Industry Update: AM/Radio In The Dashboard highlighting the battlefield from DC to stations’ physical plants, with additional sessions on free listener data available to stations in DTS AutoStage: Radio in the Connected Car and new revenue opportunities in Digital Dashboard.

Keynotes, Awards & Celebrations
Mattress Mack, one of Texas’ most colorful and successful businessmen, shares how he built and continues to grow his business around community service, civic engagement and broadcast advertising in an opening-day keynote address featuring “Austin’s Empress of Soul,” Tameca Jones, a beloved BMI singer songwriter praised for her fierce performances as a segue into the Kick-Off Party.
Building Texas’ Future is the subject of “The Conversation” between Rep. Todd Hunter and incoming TAB Chair Amy Villarreal that caps off the Leadership Breakfast where 13 stations will be honored for their community service. Named one of Texas Monthly’s 10 Best Legislators for 2023, Hunter was crucial to the passage of several multibillion dollar infrastructure investments on the November ballot that promise to transform communities throughout the state in the coming years. He’s also a staunch First Amendment/Open Government advocate who authored the Texas Anti-SLAPP Law which TAB successfully defended this session!
The closing night Awards Gala features the presentation of Texas broadcasting’s highest honors, Pioneer of the Year, Broadcaster of the Year, George Marti Award for Engineering Excellence and the Jason Hightower Award for Broadcast Excellence.

Registration remains open and delegates are encouraged to complete the process in advance so they can breeze through the credentialing steps on-site.
The discounted TAB room block at the JW Marriott sold out weeks ago, but additional rooms are available there and at the secondary hotel, the Hampton Inn & Suites. There are multiple additional hotels in the immediate area.
