New DHS Access Letter Available; TAB Shipping FEMA Face Masks to Stations

TAB has two updates on available federal help for Texas broadcasters.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has issued a new letter for broadcasters to use to facilitate access to studios and transmitter sites in the event of a COVID-19 travel-stop order or quarantine.

It replaces a letter issued in March that were effective through May 28.

The new letter was issued by DHS’ Cyber and Infrastructure Security Agency’s (CISA) National Communications Coordination Branch (NCC).

TAB President Oscar Rodriguez emailed a link to the letter to all member station GMs the evening of June 1.

TAB Shipping FEMA Face Masks
TAB has begun its mail distribution of 30,000 washable, reusable face masks to Texas radio and TV stations.

The face masks were issued by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and finally arrived at TAB last Thursday.

TAB began mailing the smallest allotments that same day and will continue to mail allotments to Texas 1,300+ stations throughout this week.

The face masks are being delivered to TAB member stations and non-members alike.

The number of face masks allocated to each station is based on market size and type of station involved.

While TAB will not be able to provide each station an unlimited number of face masks, we know that any amount will be helpful, and most importantly, will be used by station staff to keep them and others safe.
