FOIFT’s Spirit of FOI Awards Call for Entries

The Freedom of Information Foundation of Texas’ Nancy Monson Spirit of FOI Award call for entries is open. 

The award honors outstanding Texas journalism that promotes or uses open government or champions free speech rights.

All news organizations qualify - broadcast, print and online. (One entry per organization, please.) 

The deadline for submissions is May 31. 

Winners will be recognized at the FOIFT state conference this fall.

The 2023 winners were the Austin American-Statesman and KVUE-TV Austin in Class AA for large markets and KRIS-TV Corpus Christi in Class A for mid-size and smaller markets. 

Honorable mentions went to El Paso Matters and the Dallas Morning News.
