FCC Fines Texas Non-Comm LPFM for Failing To File License Renewal in 2021

The FCC has fined Holy Spirit Oil Filled Ministry, licensee of KERC-LP Kermit, $1,500 for willfully violating section 73.3539 of the commission’s rules by failing to timely file a license renewal application for the station.

Texas radio stations were required to file FCC station license renewals by April 1, 2021, but KERC’s application was not filed until May 13 of that year.

Holy Spirit Oil Filled Ministry offered no explanation for its untimely filing of the application.

The FCC issue a notice of apparent liability on Sept. 21, 2021 and gave the station 30 days to pay the full amount or request a reduction or cancellation of the fine.

KERC did neither.

Accordingly, the FCC has concluded that Holy Spirit Oil Filled Ministry willfully violated the FCC’s rules and is requiring KERC to pay the full fine.
