Deadline Today to Sign Up for Chief Operator for Radio Course at TAB Show

TAB is offering its Chief Operator for Radio course on Aug. 2 at the TAB Show but potential course attendees must act fast – the deadline to add the course to your TAB convention registration is TODAY, July 19.

It really is “final call” as there is no onsite registration.

Interested parties should note the course pre-requisites below.

There is a separate $125 registration fee required in addition to a TAB 2023 Convention registration.

Already signed up for TAB2023 Convention and want to add this course? Use the link above.

This program takes place from 9 am to 3 pm on Wednesday, Aug. 2, at the host hotel, Austin’s downtown JW Marriott.

Texas veteran broadcast engineers Gil Garcia and Steve Hasskamp will provide basic knowledge and understanding of responsibilities essential to maintain a station’s day-to-day operations as a Chief Operator.

The SBE study guide is the foundation of this instruction.

Classroom instruction is supplemented with content and videos developed specifically for these courses by broadcast engineers throughout Texas.

An open book exam will be given at the end of the six-hour course.

The exam consists of 40 multiple choice questions and two essay questions.

A passing grade of 70 is required.

With a passing grade, the applicant can receive a TAB certificate of certification as a Chief Operator for Radio.

There are course pre-requisites.

Potential enrollees must meet one of the following additional requirements:

  • Provide SBE Certification as a Radio Operator
  • Have a related SBE Certificate in Radio broadcasting such as Broadcast Technologist, Broadcast Engineer, Senior Broadcast Engineer, or Professional Broadcast Engineer
  • Prove three years of continuous, full-time service at a Radio station (Required: two letters of recommendation. One letter of endorsement from a GM or Owner of a Radio station verifying years of employment and documenting the applicant has a good understanding of the operation of a Radio station. Second recommendation letter from an additional broadcaster who has knowledge of the applicant’s experience.)

Class size will be limited to 30 attendees.

Questions? Contact TAB’s Jennifer Isenberg or call (512) 322-9944.
