TAB Exec Briefing: Current Issues and Concerns in Broadcast Advertising

Attorneys Scott and Laurie Flick of TAB’s FCC legal counsel Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman will present this session focusing on regulatory issues that are currently affecting broadcast advertising and station outreach through websites and text messaging.

The hour long session will cover the following four topic areas:

  • E-Cigarettes – It’s one of the hotter categories out there, in large part because of the FDA being on the verge of regulating it. So is it legal to advertise these products now?   Will broadcasters be allowed to do so in the future?
  • EAS Tones in Ads – There have been several controversies raised by the use of EAS tones in commercials. Now it appears the FCC is getting serious about enforcing the prohibition on their use in anything other than actual emergencies or tests. What is causing this crackdown?
  • COPPA Revisited – The Federal Trade Commission has been revisiting the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act. If your station website seeks information from viewers as part of its operations, your station could be affected.
  • New “Robo-Call” Rules – Don’t assume they affect just robocallers and text spammers.  If your station texts to reach consumers, you might be surprised to learn that these rules impact your station too!

The webinar is offered as a FREE service to TAB member stations only and there is no limit to the number of member station staff who may sign up for the event.
