TX broadcast leaders tackle new tech, regs, players at TAB Show

Known as the place where the business of Texas broadcasting gets done, the TAB Convention (Aug. 5-6 in Austin) zeroes in on ways to successfully compete against new media players, comply with myriad new FCC regulations and deploy the latest technology powering the radio and TV industry.

With nearly 40 programs and 121 exhibit booths, the two-day program is laden with broadcast sales experts and gear heads intent on helping stations boost their traditional and digital revenues alike. Auto advertising expert John Tkac, ProMax’s Kelly Wirges, marketing guru Graeme Newell, mobile expert Daniel Anstandig and P1 Learning’s Speed Marriott are just a smattering of the talent TAB is bringing to bear for the largest state broadcast gathering in the country.

Cybersecurity and green energy strategies for broadcast studios, the new frontier that is ATSC 3.0 and spectrum auction impacts on TV and FM stations are some of the headline sessions on the tech side that an anticipated 1,300 delegates from Texas and the rest of the U.S. will absorb between visits to the exhibit hall showcasing the industry’s top vendors.

And, of course, TAB will tip its hat to community service leaders at the opening breakfast to be keynoted by Congressman Pete Olson, R- Sugar Land, the only Texan serving on the key House Communications & Technology Subcommittee.  Later that evening, three Texas broadcasters who’ve made their mark and elevated industry standards throughout their careers will receive the industry’s most coveted honors at the annual Awards Gala to be keynoted by Univision’s Maria Antonieta Collins.

The jam-packed, break-neck schedule was developed over the past year by a committee of 19 broadcasters, led by Univision’s David Loving and CBS Radio’s Sarah Frazier, both of Houston. Sponsorships from some of the biggest names in the industry help keep registration fees affordable.

Register now – it’s not too late to take advantage of this top-notch program that will boost your revenues, improve your efficiency and provide a chance to visit with friends you haven’t seen in a while.
