Two Texas Radio Stations Enter Consent Decrees to Resolve FCC License Renewal Issues

The FCC adopted consent decrees with Texas A&M University Kingsville, licensee of KTAI-FM Kingsville, and Christian Ministries of the Valley, Inc., licensee of KBUG-FM Big Spring, to resolve issues with the stations’ 2021 license renewals.

Both stations admitted to station public inspection file problems and in the consent decrees, agreed “among other things, to implement a comprehensive compliance plan to ensure future compliance with its online public inspection file obligations.”

The stations must submit a compliance report to the FCC’s Audio Division one year after entering into their respective consent decrees.

KTAI-FM saw its license renewal processing suspended because it did not comply with the FCC’s station public inspection file obligations set forth in section 73.3527 of the FCC rules, the portion specifically applicable to noncommercial educational stations.

KBUG-FM saw its license renewal processing suspended because it did not comply with the FCC’s station public inspection file obligations set forth in section 73.3526 of the FCC rules, the portion specifically applicable to commercial stations.
