TAPB and Texas Gavel Awards: call for entries

The call for entries for two of Texas’ most prestigious broadcast journalism awards contests is now open.

TAB’s longtime collaborative partner in the annual Southwest Broadcast Newsroom Workshop, the Texas Associated Press Broadcasters, is now seeking entries for its 2012-13 radio, TV and online contest.

The TAPB annual awards recognize Texas broadcast and online journalism excellence in a variety of categories bracketed by market size.

Entry fees help fund the contest and are also used to award several TAPB journalism student scholarships.

The contest entry deadline is Monday, Feb. 11.

Submission and judging is now done online for the contest.

Texas Gavel Awards

Saluting journalistic excellence that fosters public understanding of the legal system is the goal of the State Bar of Texas through its Texas Gavel Awards.

The program is sponsored by the State Bar of Texas Public Affairs Committee and judged by an independent panel that includes out-of-state editors and legal reporting experts.

Awards are presented annually at the Freedom of Information Foundation of Texas conference in August.

The deadline for entries is Monday, April 1.
