TAB’s Annual Business Meeting Goes Virtual July 30

- Election Results, Financial Report, 2021 Policy Issues

With the 2020 TAB Show canceled because of the pandemic, TAB is holding its annual business meeting online for the first time. Members began receiving email invitations this week for the Zoom meeting slated for 11-11:30AM on July 30. Only members may attend.

The meeting is required under TAB’s bylaws in order to announce Board election results, report on the state of the organization’s finances and outline ongoing federal policy issues. Members will also be presented a summary of challenges anticipated in the upcoming session of the Texas Legislature.

In-depth reviews of policy issues ranging from tax concerns to Open Government failings during the pandemic-driven shutdown will be held in the coming months to begin preparing for outreach to key state lawmakers.

TAB’s legislative efforts have yielded significant policy wins for Texas broadcasters, from defeating repeated attempts to pass an Ad Tax and securing an array of sales and franchise tax exemptions on key business inputs, to measures protecting newsrooms and Open Government.

The engagement of individual GMs and news directors in these efforts is the root of our success on this front, so please take 30 minutes to join us live on July 30 at 11AM.

Questions? Contact TAB’s Oscar Rodriguez or call (512) 322-9944.
