TAB Tees Up Final Training Programs of 2025, Major Events in 2026

- Auto Dealers, Underwriting, Team Productivity in November

With one eye focused on pushing the AM Radio bill to final passage in Congress, TAB is keeping the other on the home front with three more revenue- and talent-growing programs on tap this month and submission windows slated for a slew of 2026 awards programs and college scholarships.

The training programs are all available to TAB member stations at no additional cost.  They include:

Driving Auto Dealer Dollars with John Tkac on Nov. 11, at 11 AM Central. Tkac notes that the retail auto industry is accelerating toward record-breaking sales, with broadcasters perfectly positioned to “ride the wave” as dealer ad budgets heading for broadcast are expanding fast heading into 2026.  REGISTER 

TAB’s year-round training partner, the Ten-Minute Training Network led by Derron Steenbergen and Speed Marriott, has two programs teed up in November to grow revenue and productivity.

Unlocking the Power of Your Underwriting Message on Nov. 13, at 11 AM Central.  Derron and Speed challenge broadcasters to rethink how they approach underwriting to maximize the opportunity to connect mission, message and community impact.  REGISTER

Reading Between the L:ines: How to Diversity Your Team and Grow Your Productivity on Nov. 18 at 2 PM Central. Ryan Dearbone presents a practical and forward-focused discussion on how to foster inclusivity, build trust, and create stronger and more collaborative teams.  REGISTER

2026 Awards and Scholarships

TAB presents a broad range of awards to stations and individuals for news reporting, exemplary service and leadership each year at the Texas Broadcast News Awards and the annual TAB Show which is slated for Aug. 5-6 in Round Rock.

Texas Broadcast News Awards – Submission window is open Dec. 1 – Jan. 25, with the celebration slated for April 11 in Austin.  English- and Spanish-language entries compete head-to-head and are evaluated by a team of bilingual judges comprised of retired or out-of-state broadcasters.

Leadership Awards and Radio/TV Station of the Year Awards – At least nine leadership awards are up for grabs, as are honors for the Radio and TV station of the Year! Nominations and submissions will be collected Jan. 1-April 17.

Bonner McLane Public Service Awards – Six awards for public service by Radio and TV stations in various market sizes are presented each year, each accompanied by a $1,000 cash prize  Submissions are due Dec. 1- April 24.

TAB’s affiliated foundation, the Texas Broadcast Education Foundation, awards $29,000 in scholarships annually to college students preparing for a career in the media arts.  Applications are due April 17.
