TAB offers more political broadcasting help

TAB has added some new documents to the members-only section of the TAB website to help stations out during the 2012 political season.

We’ve created a download of TAB’s political forms as well as an updated contested primary election races document.

Stations can also find two new political advisories created by law firms serving TAB members.

TAB Political Forms download

TAB has created a download of the TAB political forms for stations to use to satisfy FCC Public File recordkeeping requirements during the 2012 election.

The download is available in the Members section of the TAB website.

The forms are also located in the back of the 2012 TAB Legal Guide to Political Broadcasting created by David Oxenford of Associate member Davis Wright Tremaine LLP.

Updated contested primary races

The candidate filing window for the new May 29 primary election closed at 6 p.m. on Friday, March 9.

The new filing period was created by the federal court in San Antonio when it pushed back the primary date in order to allow existing candidates to switch districts (if new maps changed an existing district) and allow new candidates to enter races.

Several new candidates took advantage of the filing period and a few existing candidates swapped their districts.

TAB has revised the Contested Primary Races document posted in the Members section of the website.

The document contains only those races that have two or more candidates as these are the races which will most likely see station advertising.

Stations must contact individual campaigns to ascertain who the media buyers are for a particular campaign.

New political advisories

TAB has posted two new 2012 political broadcasting advisories created by Gregg Skall of TAB Associate member Womble Carlyle Sandridge & Rice LLP, and Richard Zaragoza and Clifford Harrington of TAB’s FCC counsel Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP.

The advisories may be found in the members-only section of the TAB website.
