TAB launches voter turnout effort

- Radio, TV PSAs to air through Nov. 4

It has been said that Americans will cross oceans to fight for democracy, but won’t cross the street to elect their lawmakers.  That seems to bear out in Texas, too, where barely 10 percent of registered voters cast ballots in the March primary election.

TAB this week launched an effort to turn that dismal tide with the distribution of Radio and TV PSAs encouraging Texans to exercise this fundamental right in the upcoming General Election.

Registered voters can vote early Oct. 20-31, or on Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 4.

One TV spot and three Radio spots (two female, one male) are available, as is an MPEG 4 version.  Each is available in English and Spanish.  They were produced by TAB and are tagged accordingly.

Hard copies are not being distributed.

The spots are SIGMA encoded, so only radio stations outside the four largest markets are asked to track and report their airtime upon conclusion of the campaign.  Technical questions can be directed to TAB’s Craig Bean.

This voter turnout campaign provides Texas broadcasters another opportunity to demonstrate our commitment to advancing civic engagement at every level of government.

TAB is a non-partisan 501(c)(6) organization and neither endorses candidates nor makes political contributions.
