TAB collecting data for annual Public Service Project

TAB’s annual effort to document the value of broadcasters’ public service launched in February.

TAB has documented more than $4.7 billion in contributions to local communities over the past 15 years, but Texas broadcasters must continually remind lawmakers of their commitment to their local communities.

The TAB Public Service Project collects data from Texas’ 1,300+ radio and television stations on their total amount of public service airtime donated, station contributions to charities, public service staff salaries and more.

“This year will be especially important because we can cross the $5 billion milestone,” said Teresa McAnally, TAB’s projects coordinator.

Each station’s information will be kept confidential; only aggregate figures will be released.

As in past years, Dr. August Grant, former University of Texas professor, will be supervising the project to ensure accuracy.

The deadline for returning the survey is Friday, March 14.
