TAB Board welcomes four new directors

TAB Board members last week welcomed four new directors representing Radio and TV stations and Associate members to the 37 member panel responsible for advising TAB staff on member services and legislative policy, providing fiduciary oversight for the organization and assisting with all major organizational efforts.

David Candelaria, VP/GM of Nexstar’s KTSM-TV El Paso, was appointed to represent Other TV Market stations, filling a vacancy created when Laura Wolf resigned after taking a position outside the industry. Candelaria has a long history in El Paso broadcasting, having worked with Entravision’s group of TV and Radio stations there from 1994 to 2013. Candelaria’s term ends in August 2019 when he’ll be eligible to serve two additional three-year terms.

Gary Moss, owner/operator of M&M Broadcasters in Waco, was appointed to represent Medium Market Radio stations. He filled a vacancy created when Chris Fleming left Ramar Communications in Lubbock to work with the Neuhoff stations in Indiana. Moss started in broadcast ownership in 1989 with the purchase of KCLE-AM in Cleburne from Earle Fletcher. He has since owned and operated more than 25 Radio stations, with industry legend George Marti as his partner and mentor. Moss’ term ends in August 2019 when he’ll be eligible to serve two additional three-year terms.

Brice Sheets, Market President/GM of Townsquare Media in Amarillo, was appointed to fill a seat left vacant by Tim McCoy’s retirement from the business after leading KFMK-FM Austin for many years. Sheets is the only Amarillo broadcaster and Townsquare’s only representative on the Board. He previously had served as GM/SM with Morris Communications’ group of stations, as well as AE for Suddenlink Communications and Assistant Sports Director for KFDA-TV. Sheets’ term ends in December 2018 when he’ll be eligible for reappointment.

Raul Jaurequi, director of affiliate relations for Texas State Networks, joined the Board as an Associate member representative. TSN is a statewide Radio network that distributes Texas-centric programming. Jaurequi, a Florida native, moved to DFW in 2010 after a short stint with a local access TV station in Orlando, starting as a part-time promotional assistant with CBS Radio. He is a former president of the National Association of State Radio Networks and lives in Dallas. Jaurequi’s term ends in December 2018 when he’ll be eligible for reappointment.
