TAB Board Elections Season Opens
posted on 5.22.2020- Nominations Due June 15
The annual TAB Board election season opens May 29 with a call for nominations to fill eight seats representing Radio and TV stations in various market sizes across the state.
Elections also will be held for three additional seats representing retired and Associate Members and educators.
Members interested in serving may nominate themselves.
All GMs eligible to cast votes will receive emails from TAB on Friday, May 29, containing links to lists of members eligible to serve and instructions for submitting nominations by the June 15 deadline.
Ballots listing the top two nominees in each category will be emailed on June 19 and votes must be cast by July 10.
Members can weigh in only on the seats representing their market categories and on the slate of officers to be announced in June. Only one vote per licensed station may be cast in the nominating process and the election.
Of the 10 openings, nine are held by incumbents eligible for re-election.
One officer and two current directors are term-limited and not eligible to run for re-election this year, including:
- Sarah Frazier, Entercom Houston – Executive Committee, Immediate Past Chairman
- Wayne Reed, KFDA/KEYU/KZBZ-TV Wichita Falls – Other Market TV
- Pat Stacey, KLTV/KTRE-TV Tyler, Lufkin – Other Market TV (Appointed)
Current officers and directors whose terms continue past this year are not eligible for nomination and are not listed on the nomination form.

The Board meets four times per year, typically in person at the TAB building in Austin though 2020’s meetings have been held electronically because of the pandemic. Committees usually meet electronically.
Board members are responsible for advising TAB staff on member services and legislative policy, providing fiduciary oversight for the organization and assisting with all major organizational efforts, including the PEP program, membership recruitment and the Annual Convention.
Board members are not compensated or reimbursed for traveling to Board meetings, nor do they receive complimentary admission to TAB events.
Officers
The proposed slate of officers will be presented to the membership by the TAB Nominating Committee under the leadership of TAB Board Chair Gayle Kiger, KCEN-TV Waco.
Traditionally, each officer advances to the next position, leaving the Secretary’s office vacant. The new officer typically alternates between Radio and TV. If this tradition continues, a TV member would be recommended as Secretary this year.
Questions regarding TAB Board Elections can be directed to TAB’s Oscar Rodriguez or Beth Bobbitt.
