TAB Board Elections Open with Call for Nominations

- Nine Seats Open, Watch for eBallot Emails

TAB’s annual Board of Directors election opens June 6 with a call for nominations to fill nine of the 37 seats representing Radio and TV stations and other membership classes. The process is entirely electronic and members should watch for emails from “eBallot” to submit nominations which are due June 23.

Members will receive reminder emails from eBallot throughout the nominations period, followed by final ballots listing the top two nominees for each seat. The process ends with the announcement of results at the TAB Show in Austin Aug. 6-7.

Board Member Responsibilities

The large number of directors reflects the size of the state and TAB’s desire to ensure stations in all market sizes and with different operating structures are represented in the volunteer leadership roles.

Board members meet four times each year, with a mix of in-person meetings at the TAB office in Austin and virtual meetings.

Directors advise TAB staff on member services and legislative policy, provide fiduciary oversight for the association, and assist with all major organizational efforts, including the PEP program, advocacy efforts in Austin and DC, and membership recruitment.

Board members are not compensated or reimbursed for traveling to meetings, nor do they receive complimentary admission to TAB events, but TAB does cover costs for traveling to Washington, DC, for targeted advocacy efforts.

2024-2025 TAB BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Open Seats

Three Radio seats are wide open, including one each in the small, medium and large market categories. Two of them stem from term limits, while the third is vacant.

A fourth Radio director – representing medium market Radio – is up for re-election.

Elections will be held for five additional seats, including “Other” market TV (all but the four largest markets), non-commercial, retired/pioneer (also known as Golden Mic), associate and educator members.

In addition to these nine seats, members will vote on the slate of officers which typically involves the advancement of each current officer and selection of a new member to serve as Secretary.

Members interested in running for a seat on the TAB Board are encouraged and welcome to contact any TAB Board member or TAB President Oscar Rodriguez for insight into the workload and expectations.

Questions? Contact Oscar Rodriguez or call (512) 322-9944.
