TAB begins Public Service Project

TAB's annual Public Service Project began this week.

In 2008, the report documented an unprecedented $3.9 billion donated to local communities by Texas broadcasters over the past 11 years.

TAB mailed the 2009 questionnaires to all Texas radio and television stations on June 26.

The project documents the contributions broadcasters make to their individual communities. The report is designed to help improve the industry's standing in legislative and regulatory battles.

"Our industry is facing one of the most challenging times in its history," said TAB President Ann Arnold.

"We need to work together to let our legislators and the public know how much every station does for its community. Every station's participation is vital because TAB only reports the efforts from responding stations."

Each broadcaster -- commercial and non-commercial -- contributes to the community and there is a monetary value (market value) in the effort of all stations that TAB reports to lawmakers in Austin and Washington.

The information from each station will be CONFIDENTIAL. Only total figures for Texas broadcasters will be released.

As in past years, Dr. Augie Grant is supervising this project, ensuring accuracy of the tabulation and the confidentiality of your responses.
