State budget gets $15 billion hit
posted on 1.10.2011
State lawmakers will have about $15 billion less to spend on the next two year budget than they did on the current spending plan which ends in August.
The figure comes from State Comptroller Susan Combs who released today her 2012-13 biennial revenue estimate.
The bad news gets worse as Combs also projects a $4.3 billion deficit for the current budget.
State legislators convene Jan. 11 for a 140-day biennial session to craft a two-year budget.
