Smith named finalist for "Woman of the Year"

The Women's Chamber of Commerce of Texas has chosen Patti C. Smith as one of three finalists for the 2007 Texas Business Woman of the Year Award.

Smith is the president and general manager of KVUE-TV Austin and served as 2005 Chair of the TAB Board of Directors.

The award honors one professional woman from the entire state of Texas who exemplifies awe-inspiring strength, brilliance and success. 

The Women's Chamber of Texas will recognize the finalists at an awards luncheon on Thursday, Nov. 1 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Austin. The other two finalists include Sue Burnett, president and founder of Burnett Staffing Services and Karen Simon, executive vice president and managing director of Bradford Companies.

Past award recipients include Diane Heavin, founder of Curves International, and Colleen Barrett, president of Southwest Airlines.
