posted on 2.10.2020- TBEF Now Accepting Applications
The Texas Broadcast Education Foundation is accepting applications for $29,000 in scholarships for students at Texas colleges or universities pursuing careers in broadcast journalism, management, engineering, advertising, production or other fields within the industry.
Applications are due April 1 and require essays and various documentation.
Stations are encouraged to alert their student interns or any staff interested in pursuing a college degree to this opportunity.
Eight of the nine scholarships are in the amount of $3,000, with some reserved for students at particular institutions or at particular points in their college studies – including one for students at a two-year or technical school. The ninth scholarship, named for TAB’s longtime leader Ann Arnold, awards $5,000 to a junior, senior or graduate student.
Most of the scholarships are named for luminaries in Texas broadcast history, including Vann Kennedy, Lady Bird Johnson, A.H. Belo, Wendell Mayes, Jr., Tom Reiff, and Bonner McLane who was TAB’s first executive director.
The scholarships are funded by endowments established since TBEF was founded in 1973 and by ongoing fundraising. Contributions to the foundation are tax-deductible.
