Problem for Sage ENDEC receipt of FEMA IPAWS messages

Sage Digital ENDECs did not receive the weekly test messages from FEMA on Jan. 13, but it wasn’t a problem with IPAWS.

A security certificate used to authenticate IPAWS messages has expired in the Sage Digital ENDEC model 3644.

This will keep a station’s ENDEC from receiving IPAWS CAP messages.

The fix requires installation of a small update in the station’s ENDEC to re-enable IPAWS messages.  Downloading and installing the update is a simple process.

This model of Sage ENDEC will continue to relay the over-the-air EAS alerts, and will continue to process alerts received from other CAP sources.

If a station missed the additional FEMA weekly tests, be sure to update the station EAS log with a note that the RWT was missed, and the reason why.

In this case, there was a problem that has been corrected with a firmware update.

Additional information can be found at http://www.sagealertingsystems.com

If a station needs assistance with installing the update, please email Sage at support@sagealertingsystems.com with questions, or provide a phone number and Sage will call.
