Political broadcasting webinar now online

Attorney Gregg Skall’s TAB Executive Briefing on the FCC’s Political Broadcasting rules is now available for viewing at TAB’s online video archive.

Skall, a partner with TAB Associate member law firm Womble Carlyle Sandridge & Rice provides a concise, focused review of the FCC’s complex political broadcast rules in just under 90 minutes.

One veteran large market TV sales staffer called the webcast the “best presentation on the FCC’s political rules that he’d ever seen.”

Skall’s presentation includes a special review of the FCC’s new online requirement for the political file.

The “big four” network affiliated TV stations in the top 50 markets (Austin, Dallas-Ft. Worth, Houston, San Antonio) must now file that station’s Public File political record keeping online at the FCC’s website in addition to maintaining a hard copy in the station Public File.

All other TV stations will eventually be required to do the same.

TAB expects the requirement will be extended eventually to FCC-licensed radio stations.

The session also covered a detailed discussion of advertising rates, disclosures/sponsorship ID, recordkeeping and other issues related to political ads.

Remember that the FCC’s fall political window opened Friday, Sept. 7.
