Moll announces retirement

William Moll announced his retirement as President and CEO of KLRN-TV San Antonio, effective Sept. 30. He held that position since 2009.

Moll is a TAB Past Chairman and 2012 Pioneer Broadcaster of the Year. 

His previous station affiliations include WSMW-TV Worcester, Mass., KENS-TV San Antonio, Harte-Hanks Broadcasting, WNBC-TV New York and WKRC-TV Cincinnati. 

He has served on the NAB, TVB and Broadcasters Foundations Boards.

Brandt family mourns loss of Marvin Brandt

Marvin Brandt, husband of Vesta Brandt, passed away Sept. 11. The Brandts were married 54 years.

Brandt served as TAB Chairman in 1994 and is a former TAB Board Member. 

She was the first woman elected president of the Houston Association of Broadcasters and served two terms as president of the Houston Chapter of American Women in Radio and Television. She is a member of the Texas Radio Hall of Fame.

Her previous station affiliations include KIOC/KKMY/ KLVI/ KYKR/ KCOL Beaumont, KNUZ/KQUE Houston, KAYC/KAYD Beaumont, and KQUE Houston.

Hudson to retire in 2013

Dr. Jerry Hudson, dean of the College of Media and Communication at Texas Tech University, will retire July 31, 2013.

Hudson has served as dean of the college since its official recognition in 2004.

Between 1998 and 2004, Hudson served as the director of the School of Mass Communications. Hudson served as graduate director from 1992 to 1998.

From 1987 to 1992, Hudson was chair of the Department of Mass Communications.

Hudson joined the Department of Mass Communications in 1978 as an assistant professor.

He said he had been thinking about retiring from the college for some time, but now seemed like the best time.

“I’m leaving the college at a time when faculty, staff, alumni and administrators have been very kind to us,” Hudson said.

His previous station affiliations include KRWD Henderson, KMIN Grants, N.M., KIXZ Amarillo, KPUR Amarillo, KVII-TV Amarillo, KFDA-TV Amarillo, KBMT-TV Beaumont and KWAZ Lubbock.

Jarrott performs in upcoming productions

David Jarrott will be appearing as Grandfather in the Zach Theatre production of “Ragtime” Oct. 17 through Nov. 18.

He will be reprising his roles in the Penfold Theatre production of “It’s a Wonderful Life” Nov. 29 through Dec. 23. 

He plays a total of 14 different characters in the adaptation of the classic Christmas movie.

Jarrott’s previous station affiliations include KCNY San Marcos, KNOW, KHFI, KTBC-TV, KXOL, KNOW, KEYI, and KKMJ Austin. 

He was inducted into the Texas Radio Hall of Fame Hall of Honor in 2002 and the Texas Radio Hall of Fame in 2011.
