Pioneer Broadcasters, Texas Tech begin interview project

The Texas Pioneer Club is working on an oral history project in partnership with the College of Mass Communications at Texas Tech University.

Dr. Jerry Hudson, Dean of the College and member of the Pioneer Club, will coordinate the effort along with former TAB President Ray Alexander.

Alexander is general manager of KRGV-TV Rio Grande Valley and serves as Pioneer Club representative on the TAB Board of Directors.

The interviews will be preserved and could become part of a collection included in a future Texas Museum of Broadcasting.

Texas TV stations will be volunteering to video tape the interviews conducted by Texas Tech students.

Pioneer Broadcasters will be answering questions regarding their background in the broadcasting industry, their accomplishments and their view of the future of radio and television.

"The experiences and knowledge shared by these Pioneers will be very valuable to the younger generation currently working in our industry," Alexander said.

Twenty interviews are scheduled for 2007.
