
Oct. 22 NAB Webinar: Reporting on Religion
posted on 10.15.2018The National Association of Broadcasters and the NAB Education Foundation are bringing together news directors, reporters and journalism school faculty and members of the faith community to discuss their experiences and recommendations about reporting on sensitive stories involving religion.
The NAB’s Awareness in Reporting series will livestream a conversation about guidelines and recommendations broadcast industry experts along with religious leaders have developed to address some of the challenges news directors and reporters face while on the front lines.
The online presentation takes place from 8:30 – 10:15 a.m. CT on Oct. 22.

Sen. Gordan Smith, NAB’s president and CEO will begin the session with brief remarks before turning over the program to Bruce Johnson, an anchor-reporter with WUSA-TV Washington D.C, who will moderate.
The panel includes Julie Asher of the Catholic News Service; Rev. Steven D. Martin of the National Council of Churches; Tahera Rahman of WHBF-TV, Rock Island, Ill.; Rabbi Jonah Pesner of the Religion Action Center of Reform Judaism; and Simran Jeet Singh of the Sikh Coalition.
The group will review research provided by Dr. Robert Jones of the Public Religion Research Institute.
