Now Available: 2014 update of TAB Guide to Political Broadcasting

A 2014 update to the TAB Guide to Political Broadcasting is now available in the Members section of the TAB website.

Attorney David Oxenford of TAB Associate Member law firm Wilkinson Barker Knauer LLP is the primary author of the guide which he first penned for TAB in 2008.

This latest update includes information on the TV station requirements for uploading the political file online as well as the Texas Ethics Commission’s requirements for sponsorship ID.

Attorney Scott Flick of TAB’s FCC counsel Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman has updated the TAB Political Forms which are found in the guide’s appendices.

These forms may be used by TAB member stations to capture all relevant information on political buys necessary to satisfy FCC recordkeeping requirements.

They’re similar to the NAB’s political forms, but unlike them, the TAB political forms are free to TAB members.

Flick revised and legally updated the forms from their previous incarnation, making them more concise and even easier to understand and use.

The forms may also be downloaded separately from the guide.

Both the guides and forms may be printed by TAB member stations for internal use by station staff.
