Nominations Due April 1 for TAB’s Leadership Awards

- Pioneer, Broadcaster of the Year Among Top Honors

Nominations for Texas broadcasting’s highest honors are due to TAB no later than April 1. The awards – including Pioneer of the Year, Broadcaster of the Year and the George Marti Award for Engineering Excellence – will be presented during TAB’s Annual Convention Aug. 7-8 in Austin.

Three other individual leadership awards also are open for nominations, including:

  • The Steve Pieringer Award for Valor in News Coverage
  • Associate Member of the Year
  • Educator of the Year

Employees of TAB member stations are all eligible to advance nominations for the six different awards, each with distinct criteria.  The nominations must be submitted electronically and should include insights and supporting materials demonstrating a nominee’s career accomplishments, contribution to industry advancements and community leadership, and involvement in TAB.

Honorees will be feted at the closing night Awards Gala on Aug. 8.

Bonner McLane Public Service Awards

Texas broadcasters’ exemplary service to their communities also will be showcased with TAB’s Bonner McLane Public Service Awards which will be presented to Radio and TV stations in small, medium and large markets.

These awards are intended to showcase extraordinary and innovative efforts to address important community needs carried out between May 1, 2018 and April 30, 2019.

Winning stations each receive a $500 voucher to offset registration fees for TAB events. Vouchers may not be used to offset membership dues or Alternative Broadcast Inspection fees.

Stations submit their own entries electronically in their respective market categories. There is no charge to enter.

The awards will be presented at the Leadership Breakfast on Aug. 8.
