New overtime rules webinar set for June 22

 - TAB legal services for member stations

TAB member stations will be briefed on the U.S. Department of Labor’s new overtime rules via webinar on June 22.  Scott Flick and Rebecca Carr Rizzo with Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman, TAB’s DC legal counsel, will present the program and detail how broadcasters in particular may feel the impact of the changes given the staffing models many stations use.

The new rules adopted May 18 under the Fair Labor Standards Act more than doubled the minimum salary level necessary to be exempt from the Act’s overtime rules. They go into effect December 1, 2016, and broadcasters must begin preparing to adapt to, and minimize the impact of, those changes prior to that deadline.

Flick and Rizzo also will explain the special exemptions already in place for broadcasters which remain unaltered by the new rule.

This is expected to be a high-demand webinar and capacity is limited, so stations are encouraged to register early for the live presentation.  The program will be archived for viewing on demand.
