National Guard/Texas broadcasters renew recruitment partnership

  - Campaign takes flight Nov. 1st

After a three-year hiatus, the Texas Army National Guard has renewed its statewide recruitment efforts in partnership with TAB utilizing a year-long NCSA/PEP campaign to replenish their ranks of highly trained, dedicated Citizen-Soldiers who serve part-time and are ready at a moment’s notice. The campaign includes English and Spanish Radio and TV spots distributed by TAB this week to all Texas stations.

“Almost daily, there’s a news story about a natural disaster somewhere in the country,” said Col. Robert E. Kuster II, chief of the Army National Guard’s Strength Maintenance Division.

“Media coverage shows not only the aftermath of these destructive events, but the tremendous need for aid on the ground to help those affected.

“The Army National Guard’s ‘Something Greater’ recruitment campaign includes television and radio commercials that emphasize the Guard’s unique domestic mission. Each spot focuses on our Citizen-Soldiers’ commitment to community and country, as well as the many personal and professional benefits Guard service offers.

“Now more than ever, the Army National Guard needs your support,” Kuster said in a message to Texas broadcasters. “Without your generous airtime contributions and favorable programming considerations, we could not adequately recruit and train the Citizen-Soldiers necessary for our diverse missions.”

The NCSA/PEP program is restricted to government and non-profit agencies with an important public service message but insufficient funds to make a traditional statewide commercial buy. TAB accepts only a few campaigns each year which must meet strict standards established by TAB’s Board of Directors.

Stations’ robust support of each NCSA/PEP campaign is crucial to TAB’s member services which benefit stations’ bottom line, such as our public policy research efforts, political updates, and the free legal hotlines on regulatory concerns, state tax law, advertising restrictions, newsroom practices and Open Government matters.

Our free legal guides, 24/7 online training for sales teams and managers, the Annual Newsroom Workshop and the Alternative Broadcast Inspection Program – all of these services depend on the airtime you contribute to the NCSA/PEP program, allowing us to offer these services either free of charge or at a very low cost without increasing membership dues!
