National Guard Pulls PEP Campaign Spots Pending New Creative

- Election Education, Alzheimer’s Awareness Campaigns On-Air

Texas broadcasters airing Radio or TV spots for the National Guard/TAB Public Education Partnership campaign should cease doing so immediately as the rights are no longer in effect. New National Guard spots are in development, and stations instead are asked to direct airtime to two campaigns related to the Nov. 6 General Election and a new Alzheimer’s Awareness campaign taking flight Oct. 10.

TAB sent a “kill order” to stations last week upon notification from the National Guard’s agency which arrived with just a few days to spare.

New creative is anticipated in the next two months and TAB will redistribute those spots when authorized to do so.

PEP Campaigns Fuel TAB Services

Stations’ strong support of the PEP program is key to TAB’s ability to provide a wide range of direct services, from regular political updates and legal services to staff-wide training and FCC compliance programs.

Training services include the Technical Academy launched this year, the “Rookie to Ready in Seven Weeks” with mentored training for first-time sellers, 24/7 online training for all teams through P1 Learning, monthly Local Broadcast Sales webinars, and various leadership and talent recruitment programs for managers.

Legal hotlines for routine media law, regulatory and state tax matters save stations thousands of dollars each year and complement a robust library of legal guides on newsroom law, employment matters, political ads and disclosure forms, and advertising from CBD and alcohol to gaming and specialty categories.

TAB’s online job bank is a go-to source for job seekers and stations alike, while awards programs such as the Texas Broadcast News Awards which launched this year with an array of fully bilingual judges ensure stations’ most valuable work receives industry-wide recognition.

Affidavits, EDI Reporting

Stations are asked to submit affidavits for all PEP campaigns via EDI by the 20th of each month. Those needing assistance securing EDI IDs or submitting affidavits can contact TAB’s Barbara Rodgers, director of the Public Education Partnership program.
