Mid-Term Elections Season Opens with FCC Political Window

- TAB Webinar on Political Ad Rules at 1 PM Today

The FCC’s political window for the upcoming March primary election opens this Saturday, Jan. 15.

It’s an important date for broadcasters as most of the FCC’s political rules, beyond those applying to a legally qualified candidates, come into play on that threshold.

This includes the lowest unit rate requirement and more intensive political recordkeeping.

To help broadcasters understand their FCC obligations under these rules, TAB will present a free TAB member station webinar this Wednesday, Jan. 12, at 1 PM CT to review the FCC’s political broadcast regulations.

Register

TAB’s FCC counsel, attorney Scott Flick of Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman, will discuss station obligations contained in the FCC’s political broadcast rules as well as in laws passed by Congress.

Topics include:

  • Reasonable Access
  • Equal Opportunities
  • Lowest Unit Charge
  • No Censorship
  • Sponsorship Identification
  • Recordkeeping/Disclosure Regarding Political Advertisement Requests

This webinar will also cover the additional sponsorship identification requirement for political advertising contained in the Texas Election Code.

This online session will be recorded and available to members a few days after the webinar.
