Media Sales Academy Aims to Build Next-Gen Sales Experts

- TAB Hosting Nov. 8-11 Program in Austin

TAB is partnering with the NAB Education Foundation to build a new generation of multi-screen marketing experts as competition for skilled business and sales professionals increases. The partnership begins this fall when TAB hosts the Media Sales Academy Nov. 8-11 at its facility in downtown Austin.

The Media Sales Academy is a three-day program designed to expose undergraduate students to the business of media and provide introductory training in the specifics of media sales.

Over the course of the program, students will learn how to become multi-screen marketing experts, using the power of radio, television, web and mobile to solve marketing challenges for local businesses.

Professionals in the industry will teach students how to think and act like account executives and guide them through the process of creating a successful sales pitch as part of their marketing plan. Students will then present their pitch to a room of industry hiring managers.

The program will conclude with a career event where students can compete for internships with media companies from around the country.

Participation, Costs
Students’ housing and meal costs will be covered by NABEF and TAB. Students will be responsible for their transportation to and from the program, though some need-based travel scholarships will be provided.

To participate students must first apply and meet the following requirements:

  • Students must be sophomores, juniors, and seniors who are business majors, participating in university sales programs and/or communications majors with some business-related coursework and a sincere interest in the sales profession
  • GPA of 2.8 or higher
  • One letter of recommendation from a professor
  • Completed online application
