McCaul, Downs talk Homeland Security at TAB Convention

Texas Congressman Michael McCaul, chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, will discuss a range of issues involving terrorist and other security threats to the United States in a keynote conversation at TAB’s Community Service Awards Breakfast, Aug. 11 at 7:30 am.

The breakfast kicks off the final day of TAB’s Annual Convention in Austin.McCaul & Downs

McCaul, a Republican whose district stretches from North Austin to West Houston, is slated to speak with incoming TAB Chairman Ben Downs about efforts to shield the homeland from the rising threat of terrorist and foreign fighters, secure the nation’s borders, enhance cyber defenses, and improve the nation’s airport security system.

The six-term Congressman – an expert in counter terrorism and national security – is known for forging strong bipartisan relationships to advance key legislation, including adoption in April of legislation enacting the Integrated Public Warning and Alert System (IPAWS), the new foundation of the Emergency Alert System.

Before he was elected to Congress, McCaul served as Chief of Counter Terrorism and National Security in the U.S. Attorney’s office, Western District of Texas, and led the Joint Terrorism Task Force charged with detecting, deterring and preventing terrorist activity.
