KNDE-FM Wins Third NAB Crystal Award
posted on 4.16.2019Congrats to the staff of KNDE-FM Bryan-College Station for winning their third NAB Crystal Award!
The National Association of Broadcasters presents ten awards each year.
KNDE-FM and nine other stations were chosen from 50 finalists.
NAB presented the awards on Tuesday, April 9 at the "We Are Broadcasters Celebration" in Las Vegas.
Candy 95 is the first Texas station to earn three NAB Crystal Awards.
The 2019 Crystal, which recognizes radio stations for outstanding year-round commitment to community service, joins Crystals won by Candy in 2016 and 2012.
"From establishing a backpack program to help combat food insecurity in teens to partnering with the Salvation Army at Christmas to bring in over $500,000, 2018 was another incredible year for us at Candy," said Program Director Katy Dempsey.
“At Bryan Broadcasting, I get the honor of working not only with a talented group of individuals, but a team that understands the importance of community and service.”
"This is our fifth honor from the National Association of Broadcasters in the last seven years (Candy has two NAB Marconi Awards to go with the three Crystals), but it’s the awards like this that showcase our impact on our community that are the most important."
"After speaking with other nominees and hearing these passionate broadcasters highlight the ways in which they invest in those they serve, you can’t help but feel local radio is truly thriving," she said.
"Our owner Bill Hicks and our General Manager Ben Downs have created something really special here at Bryan Broadcasting, and I’m proud to be a part of it."
