KLTV Helps Collect More than 1,000 Coats for East Texas Kids
posted on 11.13.2017Raycom TV station KLTV-TV, working with PATH (People Attempting To Help) in Tyler, and Longview Community Ministries in Longview, collects winter coats throughout the month of October at area drop off points.
There is a “classroom” challenge that has schools collecting coats, and the class that collects the most coats receives a trophy and is featured on a weather segment with KLTV Chief Meteorologist, Mark Scirto.
The Tyler class comes to the station, and Scirto goes to the classroom that wins in Longview.
The trophy presentations take place over first two weeks of November. The coats are then distributed by PATH and LCM.
In 2017, Whitehouse’s Brown Elementary School won the classroom challenge in the Tyler area, and Longview High School won in Longview.
PATH collected 372 coats for the Tyler area, and Longview Community Ministries collected 700 donations for a collective 1,072 coats to be distributed this winter.
