ICFJ seeks newsroom hosts
posted on 6.19.2012The International Center for Journalists (www.icfj.org) is looking for newsrooms across the country to host fellows this fall in the U.S. - Pakistan Professional Partnership in Journalism program.
This three-year effort will bring a total of 128 journalists from Pakistan to the U.S. to learn how newsrooms here practice our craft.
Several Texas TV and radio newsrooms have hosted ICFJ program journalists over the past year.
ICFJ covers all cost of the program but they need host TV newsrooms to place fellows.
ICFJ is bringing 14 broadcast journalists to the U.S. for three and a half week media attachments from Oct. 6-30.
Stations can learn more about this ICFJ program by visiting http://www.icfj.org/our-work/us-pakistan-professional-partnership-journalism or watch a short video on the program here.
These journalists have been selected after a highly competitive application process and they represent a cross-section of news media organizations from all over Pakistan.
All program participants are fluent in English.
One of the most exciting aspects of this program is that ICFJ will also take 30 American journalists to Pakistan from the various U.S. media organizations which host the fellows and expose them to the leading news media organizations in Pakistan.
That means that someone from a host Texas newsroom may get to go to Pakistan for a two-week study tour.
If a station employee is interested in providing a room to personally host one of these journalists, the ICFJ will reimburse at the rate of $200/week.
If there aren’t any home stays available when the Pakistani journalist is placed, then the ICFJ puts that participant in a local hotel.
If your station’s newsroom would be interested in being a host, please contact the ICFJ’s program director Babar Taimoor by email or by calling (202) 349-7601.
